Caring for Widows is a biblical mandate – James 1:27 – “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world”.
The Widows Ministry mandate is to ensure that all widows are taken care of properly both spiritually and physically. Jesus expects His Church to look out for widows. There are many widows who are hurting in one way or another as follows:
• Grieving a lost husband
• Lonely for companionship, but often hard to find a new relationship when they’re older or have kids
• Financially strapped, with the loss of a husband’s income
• Sole responsibility for chores around the house and solo parenting,
which can be exhausting
The Ministry proposes to host various prayer sessions and seminars in order to build and maintain mutual relationship with widows and other ministries within the church community.
Various Rap sessions will also be held with widows, in order to encourage and support them in dealing with painful situations, loneliness and other vulnerable part of their journey.
The Ministry will also be hosting several Bible Quizzes, mentorship programmes and many other activities, in order to keep widows occupied.
