Our commission and mandate is to pray as the Lord would have us do in Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians. “Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5 vs 17-18.
We should have a prayerful attitude at all times and must be willing to go all the way with Him, when we are called to deny self and intercede on behalf of others. We can be thankful for God’s presence and for the good He will accomplish through the distress.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5 vs 16
For us to be effectual requires a daily walk and constant communion with the Lord. It involves having a relationship with Him, denying self and taking up the cross daily. Prayer should be consistent.
Fasting goes hand in hand with prayer in this troubled world. There are so many things to distract our communion with the Lord, so through cleansing and daily repentance, we are ready for the task ahead.
